Uncorked Ventures wine club was founded in 2010 as a family business. Two brothers-in-law were unsatisfied with their jobs and decided to follow their passion. Later on, one of them changed his path, but the other, Mark Aselstine, remained devoted to Uncorked Ventures and made a serious business out of his love for wine.

The company’s seat is in California and they distribute wines exclusively from Oregon, Washington, and California. Mark tastes the wines himself and pays vintners a visit in order to find out everything about the wine before sending it to the customers of Uncorked Ventures. While we were doing research for this Uncorked Ventures review, we found out that Mark Aselstine isn’t just the owner of Uncorked Ventures, he’s also the company’s wine taster, blog writer, and even customer support representative. From just one look at the club’s website, you can feel that Mark is truly devoted to his company. Continue reading this Uncorked Ventures review to learn more about this superb wine club.

Reserve Selections Wine Club

If you want to taste the real treasures of the West Coast wine world, this is a club for you. Superb red and white wines from Oregon, California, and Washington can be delivered to your doorstep each month, every other month or quarterly. What Makes Uncorked Ventures Different

This family-owned business genuinely cares about their customers. Mark Aselstine, the owner, is involved in almost every step of the process of delivering phenomenal West Coast wines to your home. He tastes the wines, he makes the selection, he writes newsletters and blogs, he even packs the bottles and answers customers’ emails. What makes Uncorked Ventures different is honest devotion to wines and a true dedication to the members of this wine club. All boxes you receive are curated and handled with care and come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

In addition, incredibly comprehensive newsletters written by Mark are delivered to customers in every shipment. These newsletters provide information about the wines in the selection and why they’re the best choice. Both newsletters and Mark’s blogs on the website are very informative and can help you learn more about wines.

Gift Options

There isn’t a better way to show someone how much they mean to you than to treat them with a bottle of premium wine. Or two. Or a regular monthly delivery of a couple of limited edition wines.

Uncorked Ventures offer two gift options, but more gift ideas are coming soon. For now, you can send someone a gift basket or purchase a gift membership for one of the Uncorked Ventures wine clubs.

There are 2 types of gift baskets you can choose from, including gourmet gift basket and chocolate gift basket. Both baskets contain local products because Mark Aselstine gives priority to local producers and small companies.

Gourmet Gift Basket

Gourmet gift baskets include one or two bottles of wine according to your choice. You can also specify which wines you’d like to send or which types you’d prefer to avoid. Besides the wine, there are gourmet products from the West Coast. The basket contains a bottle of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, a jar of seasonal jam, mustard, and artisan chocolate from San Francisco.

Chocolate Gift Basket

The chocolate gift basket is a perfect combination of top-notch wine and, of course, chocolate. You can choose the wines and you can also decide whether the basket should contain one or two bottles. As the name of the basket suggests, it also contains locally produced chocolate. Mark Aselstine made a selection of delicious chocolates including TCHO chocolate sampler, sea salted caramels, truffles, and a bar of absinthe dark milk chocolate from Endorfin Foods.

Two red wines from the Special Selections Wine Club are a bit more expensive, amounting to $115. In the end, there’s the Reserve Selections Wine Club that offers you top-quality wines at the price of $225 per shipment.

Gift baskets cost $150 to $200, depending on whether you want the basket to include 1 or 2 bottles of wine.

Customer Support

Uncorked Ventures offers customer support via email, phone, ticketing system, and even snail mail. If you need a prompt answer, the best option is filling out a ticket, as you can get a response within no more than 8 hours. Alternatively, you can call the service directly via phone and if no one picks up, they will call you back within a day. From our experience, email is the worst option as you may not get a response for days, so you might as well use snail mail.

Mark Aselstine does not follow through. You will be charged and you will not receive product. He does not respond to emails or calls. I caught him on the phone once and he attempted to scramble to get off the phone but I made him take my information down and I had another person listening to verify he received my request to cancel our subscription immediately. After we requested our money back several times, he actually sent a check...when I went to deposit it, it was not able to be deposited (because his account was closed) and not only did I not get to cash the check but my bank charged me an additional fee for his bounced check. He continues to not follow through after multiple attempts to contact him. This "company" will take your money and leave you out to dry.

The wine was ok when I received it. The problem was that I got charged and never received the third shipment. It took many emails and apologies from Mark before I finally got a refund. I asked to be removed from the club membership but have just been charged again, six months after going through the initial ordeal. I think Mark needs help in the office!

I looked a quite a few different wine clubs and ended up choosing Uncorked Ventures because the wine selection intrigued me. I opted in for the 3 bottle/mo, $225 selection. I received the first shipment shortly after my credit card was charged. My credit card has now been charged for January and February yet I haven't received any wine. I've sent multiple emails requesting updates or refunds. I received one reply where Mark stated the flu had been going through his family. That reply was from 2/14. I have not received any additional replies to my request for update, wine or refund.

I ordered a year's worth of quarterly shipments as a gift in January 2016. As of January 2018, we still don't have the wine I paid for. The last conversation resulted in ups tracking numbers, only for Mark to have the shipments returned to the sender.

I’ve been with UV for three years now. Every month, there’s a delivery from Mark. I’ve tried all of the clubs, but I’m sticking with Special Selections, I like red wine. I just don’t know why he doesn’t hire someone to take care of that site. I know how to manage it and find what I need, but it must be confusing for new people. This 4 is just to give you a nudge, otherwise I’m totally satisfied with UV.

Quite good. Wines are fine but too pricey for me.
